1.9tdi cutting out

Featured Replies

Hi to all,

I m a new user. We bought an octavia 07 tdi a few months back. Great car i have to say and 3rd one in our family. It began to chuck slightly in 5th when accelerating, then it began to cut out when driving - particularly when clutching to change gear coming to a junction and would be terrible hard to start. Then it mighnt do this for a week again. We ve done the dmf and clutch kit. We put a machine on it and it showed up glow plug faults - changed these, and then a supply voltage/ lower limited not reached/intermittment 00532. The battery is ok - tested ok. Not brilliant but ok. No other faults showed up. Car still cutting out. Any suggestions for me? Car drives lovely when ok but its a headache as it becoming more frequent.

Thanks in advance

Ps i know the v basics of an engine, not that well up.

Cutting out when driving - have you checked fuel filter and pump? Possibly restricting fuel flow?

No. I must look today. Would that work/not work as described above?

It's a possibility, I'm not the best at cars but with engine cutting out whilst driving it could be due to fuel starvation. How many miles has your car done?

  • Author

150 km.

Fuel starvation would also account for it being difficult to start again just after it cuts out.

Warm start issues can also relate to temperature sensor.

Has that been checked?

How would you check the fuel pump?

That sensor didnt show up on diagnostics. Granted i didnt get them done in an offical skoda garage. Would i be best get them done there?

My mate has this issue after replacing the fuel pump. It turned out he had put the feeds on the wrong way round! Jump starting the car would somehow draw enough fuel to last a few miles then it would cut out again.

Left her in there now to skoda garage. Cut out on wife 3 times this morn with kids on board so not chancing it anymore. See what the diagnose!

Definitely not worth the risk when kids are in the vehicle. Hope it's not an expensive bill.

Nothing showed up! But when i quizzed him after he told me he d need it for a few hrs - at 85 an hr, he said it looks like a fuel pump issue..

I'm having a "cutting out" problem too. I'm loosing dash lights, speedo and rev counter, all dead. Then after a short while the lights come back on and the engine can restart. Sound similar ?

Mine just starts to chug and then cuts out. I m going to replace the fuel pump relay and see what happens.
