Gearbox mount ripped out from the bell housing?!

My mk2 octy has ripped the dog bone gearbox bolt out of my bell housing? The bolt has snapped off in the bell housing and also cracked it, it's split my aircon pipe and damaged what I think is my aux belt, is this common and is there something I can do to prevent it from happening again?

My mate seems to think this was recalled and had the mounting changed to a more reienforced one? Is this true?
