Power adaptor

Featured Replies

Evening all, SWMBO has managed to lose the power adapter for her DSLR battery charger, can anyone tell me what sort of adaptor I will need, this is the charger:

Thanks.

The input says AC100-240 so I assume that it is just a normal mains lead.

Can you take a photo of where the lead plugs into the charger?

My Canon battery chargers take a normal 'figure of 8' lead.

A us to UK adapter should be fine

There is no lead I'm afraid just the pins at the top right of the picture.

I was thinking US 2 pin, I'm sure I've got one somewhere.

When you say "Adapter", do you mean a Canon supplied 3 pin plug piece that went OVER the 2 pin plug we can see in the photos?? or a standard adapter it plugged into???

A couple of devices I have use the first system to allow the charger to be used around the world, but the pins coming out of the unit are not compatible with any standard adapter plug and need only of the device-specific adapters..

Yes it was the 3 pin plug that you plug the chrger in to which came with the camera.

If you have the manual, it might have a parts diagram with parts numbers, so you can order the part direct from Canon; otherwise I would take the charger into your local Canon camera dealer and ask him for one, he should be able to identify and order it..

Well I downloaded the manual, as she doesn't know where her manual is either  :wall:  Looks like it is just an american plug

Pretty much every mobile and electronic device we've bought in the last 18 month use this system.

The 2 pins are US special and would go straight into their power sockets. For other markets like the UK you fold these back, and slot over the top a country specific connector.

They aren't special at all if they fold out like that.

Buy a US adapter and give it a try; but you may find the weight of the unit PLUS the adapter means it wont stay in a UK wall socket - so either buy a new cover or use a trailing lead socket.
