That's one list mender and I do agree with FUBAR, there's some dire cars in that list!!!!

There's two Allegros in the list, yellow too  :drunk:

and I'd forgotten the Montego, plus I nearly bought an Ital but the alcohol wore off before the bank opened  :giggle:

My Dad had 2x Montego's - one a Turbo! He also had an LPG powered Ital - the only place we could fill it up as Leicester Forest East Services, this is going back about 25 years!!!

So for all our sarcastic comments and chuclin', YOU had the last laugh!

Top man with an obvious ace sense of humour.

I like you!

Cheers   That's nice of you!

One of my favourites was this year-a 2CV bought off ebay which was very faded and some numpt had painted the wings the wrong colour.

After a horrendous backfiring, fumy, rattly, draughty, stalling and not starting hot journey from Devon to here after it dawned on me that the last time I owned one I was five stone lighter and did not have to hold my breath to release the steering wheel and actually steer.

I arrived home, sprayed the wings with rattle tins, polished it up and was on the way to the garage when a mad woman flashed and flashed and flashed me until I stopped.  She asked if I wanted to sell it and I named a price after explaining it was a restoration project as it needed some serious mechanical work, she grabbed my hand and shook it.  I made £800 in a few hours.

Most people complain their clothes are getting tighter as they get older.....my cars are getting tight  :drunk:

I have been asked to park in the next road when visiting friends before....but even I would draw the line at an LPG Ital....probably

In Lodz, Poland yesterday I spotted a hot pink FSO Polonez saloon with white wheel trims, rust and some amazing lurid seat covers and started to wonder if it would get me back home until my wife reeled me in with the promise of beer and food.

Mine was a Montego 2.0 GTi shared with Parents as a second car; it was a really good car for its day.  Turbo Maestros and Montegos fetching quite strong money now, as the 80s stuff is getting more relevant for hobby cars.

I loved them when they were a great cheap fun anti-car, but now they've got into the realms of a fashionable classic and are fetching serious money.

In 2002 I bought a MINT 87 Bamboo for £900, plus a new black roof for £78 and toured Europe without any fuss, but the same car would now be £4000 and the specialists mechanics are fewer and more expensive than they were.

If you want one, buy one with a decent chassis and bodytub, but tatty wings and mismatched seats, colours etc, buy between November and March and do the tidying yourself with help from the forum on the mechanics side.   Search the sale ads on the forum and on 2CVTV.com for the best finds.

It's possible to buy one, use it for a year and make good money, so what's stopping you?!

SPACE,

I've already overflowed into an expensive  barn that I'm storing my classic  car and matching caravan.

Will it fit inside the caravan?

Now you're just being silly.

Just make sure you buy a 2CV with a knackered chassis so you can fold it up and get it through the door

Excellent. Glad to see it's been well kept. Any recent pictures? It was on 83000 miles when I traded it in 2006. Were you the next owner or did someone else have it between us?

Which garage has it gone to? I'd be tempted to buy it back.
