Rapid on the Nordschleife

Featured Replies

Sweet!

IMHO, Rapid is a decent car and can be fun on the road (tried that once on a twisty road and had a good time).

mods to be done, to be sportier:

wheels with smaller offset (ET35 and lower - ideal would be ET30 IMHO)

a set of lowering springs

a tune (i.e. the 1.2 tsi 105 can be easily tuned to around 135hp)

the key to all of the above, is high tq # and especially low weight of the car, which is very important.

probably the mod on the steering wheel to become sportier, mentioned somewhere in this forum, can also be a very good mod

voila! hit the track and have fun

Impressive!

Crikey, strewth, eck as like, gor blimey.   I am astonished. I have to accept it is a stock 1.2 tsi in the hands a a DAMN GOOD driver but even so that was something else.

Is the Rapid not exactly what Skoda have been happy to let  everyone  believe about it?

I've been a bit puzzled by the unusual front/rear track set up,  and very leery about the size of the front discs.  Skoda have things planned for this car I reckon.

By the way what state was the engine and gearbox in after that dash round the track  .And did it put their insurance premium up at all ?  Off now to try it out like that on the local ring road. :giggle:

Hey, what about this guy?

^^^ Same guy I believe.

I drive mine like that sometimes :) rofl

Surprising how nimble it is - having just given back a mondeo titanium x tdci as a courtesy car and back in mine I can see why it's so fun,

Light, agile, enough oomph for fun :)
