Average mpg

Featured Replies

Just traded my old workhorse Octavia 1.9 TDI for a new Rapid 1.2 TSI

25 mile journey home from dealer ave 45mpg which was ok .

Filled up with fuel and range came up at 390 miles is that a pessimistic reading assuming low 30's mpg I know driving style comes into it but would be interested to know what people are averaging .

Got 55mpg from my 1.9 diesel

Well bear in mind that the rapid will only have a 45 litre tank and your Octavia had a 55 litre tank.

Plus the car only has the driving on/off car transporter and your driving home to calculate it on.

Cheers Phil thought the Rapid had 55 Litre tank but being a smaller car that makes sense, i know economy will improve as the engine runs in wondered how you guys were doing on mpg?

I'm doing more or less 6Litres/100Km with some aggressive driving here and there, and with lots of ups and downs (can't avoid them, my city is that way)

1.2 tsi 105hp, driving the Rapid mostly on highways and country roads, i get around 37mpg (6.3 liters/100km).

this is my average since i bought the car (2.5K miles)

the best i have on a 80miles journey and with the less aggressive style from my side, is 41mpg

It really depends what type of driving you are doing, but over 50mpg is quite easy to achieve on a steady mixed run.

This will give you a range of around 500 miles (Rapid has a 55 litre tank)

Oooh... Sorry. I had it in my head it had a 45 litre tank like Fabia, Ibiza etc.

Yep 55 litre tank as it's based loosely on a new polo front and Octavia rear beam.

I get 360 - 500 miles range from filling up depending on journeys done.

Last tank was town work and managed 38mpg calculated which is 8mpg better than the vrs so I'm saving :)

ARABAS  If you are getting 6.3 per 100 Km you are doing 44.76 MPG

See my fuelly sig, I'm regularly getting >50 MPG real (computer reading seems to be around 5-6% optimistic compared to what it works out at in reality).

The majority of my mileage is a steady run on the motorway @ 60mph though (I see no point trying to do 70 with so many lorries in the middle lane and ****ers in BMWs etc doing 90+ in the outside lane)

You re probably right.. I just found a random online convertor and got the results.

To be clear i m seeing average 6.3 lt/100 km and lowest avg i ve seen ona trip is 5.7 lt / 100 km.

Hope this clears it

Thx for pointing that HopeImRight!

One day, I went to a city next to mine, it's like a 45min ride, I was able to get 5L/100km...

480 miles from the first tank and 540 from the second average overall 43 mpg - not bad not really done that much on the motorway either.

So the Rapid has a larger fuel tank then the latest Octavia MkIII (50L)!
