Mobile paint repair

Featured Replies

I've seen some adverts for people who do this and I think there is someone close to where I live who does it (at least have seen a van parked up several times) anyone any experience of them?

Basically someone has clipped my nearside rear corner of the back end in the work car park and not had the decency to leave any details!!! They cracked the light cluster and have scuffed the bumper corner, so a quick bit of Tcut and polish is not going to be enough! Is it worth going to one of these mobile people or trying a proper body shop?

I asked for a quote to remove a small scratch on the Fabia, he arrived and said he could not do the job because it is metallic, whole side of the car would need painting.

What about the "Chips away" people are they any good? notice they are listed in the  phone book.

They seem to get a lot of press coverage.

A lot of press coverage does not mean they are any good and it is the quality of repair depends on the skill off the local paint technician (as they are called now).   I use a local independent Chip & Scratch man that's been around for years, blends in the paint very well. Expect to pay £60 -£70 for the first scratch and bargain with him for the other scratches whilst he's there, you'll always find one or two more.

Metallic colours should not be a problem.

Go with a local recommended outfit and the same for dings and dents.

Any one troed and tested anyone for rust bubbles? Had them for a while now and starting to show up worse :(
