Front wheel knocking

Featured Replies

Any thoughts on the following.....?

So tonight while coming home from a lovely meal with the mrs I approached my street as usual slowed to 10-15mph and turned left and I heard a knocking sound coming from the right front wheel I stopped and got out and had a look for anything obvious but couldn't see anything. I pulled off again and the knocking continued with each rotation of the wheel.

I parked up went inside for a while and this was bothering me. I jumped back in the car and went for a cautious drive. I heard nothing. Put the car under some strain in the empty costco car park to try and hear the noise but again nothing. Again headed home repeated what I did last time and no noise.

Now this is doing my head in. I've just had a major service MOT and geometry done. So I do wonder if they have created a problems while fiddling with the wheel adjustments.

CV joint bearing? I've no idea so suggestion welcome before I go and shout at Skoda on Monday morning.

Cheers

find a car park windows down and full lock each way, if its a cv joint it will click on full lock. :hi:

^^ You don't usually need to be going particularly fast.

Its a wear and tear thing.  Can be caused by a damaged cv boot letting grease out/water and crud in = grinding paste.

There are other things it could be.
