Error code help

Featured Replies

Hello,

Due to the engine management light coming on I have had a friendly member of the owners club run a diagnostic. The two error codes were 17704 and 16396.

The light has been reset and so far has not come back on. Can anyone help with what these codes mean? A have a mechanical breakdown warranty but need to know if failed parts are causing these codes.

The car itself seems to be driving as normal.

Cheers,

Darren

Twas not a problem Darren. A quick search of the Brisky archives reveals a fair number of results on 17704. Most appear to point towards temperature sensor, water pump or thermostat failure.

EDIT: Have found the other one, see below.

According to AutoData, 16396 means:

Camshaft position (CMP) intake/left/front, bank 1 - timing over-retarded -> Valve timing, engine mechanical fault, CMP actuator

and 17704 means Engine Cooling System Malfunction -> ECT Sensor, Coolant Thermostat
