Can these be done?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am thinking of a few upgrade but unsure if they are possible.

1. Power fold mirrors

2. steering wheel controls

3. auto mirror when going into reverse (So they Dip)

4. Auto lock on set off

That's all I can think of at the moment.  The car I have is a Skoda Octavia vRS on an 08 plate Mk2 2 pre face lift I believe.

Many thanks in advance if I get some reply's :-)

Tom.

They are all possible, but 1, 2 and 3 are going to require hardware changes:

1. Power fold mirrors = will need the mirrors, possibly a controller upgrade and new switch... even then they will not fold automatically when you lock the car, only on the switch or remote (if you rewire them and add a relay it ids possible to have them fold automatically when you lock the car.

2. steering wheel controls = may need a new controller, will need a loom and steering wheel

3. auto mirror when going into reverse (So they Dip) = need memory seats

4. Auto lock on set off = a simple VCDS code change

Regarding steering wheel controls I'll mention that I have these in my Octavia but don't like them much and so still mostly use those on the Stream unit. The one and only feature on my last car that was better than my Octavia was the audio controls. The car in question was a (crap!) 1997 Renault Megane, but its 'steering wheel' audio controls were on a seperate stalk behind the one for the wipers, which was a great system that I miss.

Mirrors were never made for it on a pre-fl so you would definitely be looking at something from the A-Team or changing them to later mirrors (if they fit) and doing a fair bit of wiring.
