First Clean for the Fabia!

Featured Replies

Since buying the car just over a week ago this was the first chance to see what the paint work and wheels were really like since buying it and here's how it looked after standing on our drive for a week.

as you can see the wheels were really bad and not been cleaned for what looked like years to me. Most of the wheels cleaned up really well but there is just some pitting in the corners on a couple of them but they will be getting a refurb after the winter when  fit a set of vrs wheels for the summer months.

After the wheels were something like it was onto the body work which was snow foam to start with, then washed to get a general idea of how things were.......well they weren't good! the amount of tar on the was very surprising, and the car clearly hadn't been washed regular as some of the fly splatters were quite hard to remove!. with some help from my new best friend Tardis the car was now bug and tar free. quickly followed another wash down of the car then came out the clay bar.

I was surprised that the car wasn't that bad from the clay bar but to be honest I think the tardis had took a lot off anyway. so after the full car was clayed it was rinsed down and had one last wash down before been dried ready for some polish.

Polish of choice was AD Cherry Glaze. Now this was the first time using it for me as it was a recent buy on the back of some really good reviews and I must say its as good as they say. Leave that wet look on the paint work that everyone is always after but also brings some depth to the paint. Also found it very easy to use with no residue left behind so a very happy with the cherry glaze over all.

With the paint work starting to look like it did probably years ago it was time for some protection and my choice for this again was from AD in the form of Obsession. very easy wax to use, applying and buffing couldn't be easier and it leaves a very nice glass look on the body work. it was just a shame that after I had gone the bonnet and half the roof done the heavens opened and have not stopped since so the rest of the car still needs waxing!

hopefully next Sunday we will have a break from the rain and I can finish off the job before it goes on the road next Monday.

Now to finish it off a couple of beeding shots from when the heavens started to open

Thanks for the comments guys,

the cars is a total different colour now to when we first seen it and actually looks clean.

Just a shame I couldn't finish the waxing as when you look in the last picture you can see the difference with and without the wax as the far side of the roof has the wax on and the beeding is much better

Looks like a good job, so when can I drop mine off for the special treatment? ;)

Great job for a first time Kev

Well done
