Now maybe time to refit STD airbox

Featured Replies

Took a trip out today and it was raining hard (we have the bad weather hitting down south) and loads of puddles all over the place. Hard to avoid.

I had difficulty seeing the road surface on some of these dark roads to make out how high or bad waters level are..... :rain:

Think i will remove CAI for Autumn / Winter prep now......

Suggest folks think about this also......

better safe than sorry....

Excellent good advice as always. I however have saved myself time and money by never actually fitting a CAI.

It's probably the only major modification that I particularly do want. But it can wait till I need a clutch, I think.

Yep do diff and single mass flywheel and clutch at the same time if you have a spare £1300. Hey I thought this was an air box thread ?

Well airbox / gearbox...... still a box..... :giggle:

Peloquin on mine, takes some getting used to but  it

No CAI here yet either

I've had the water problem mine suffers from spray on the motorway cone gets soaked I put one with shrouded sides on ( only open on the bottom but for winter I'm gonna put my filter in the bay as don't have standard box someone ran off with mine when I went in the house for more tools I was glad they didn't take my cai but now I'm not so sure

Indeed, the smart folks leave the airbox firmly on! ;)

Though you could have an enclosed setup if you wanted the noise (lets not talk about power here), very little heat-soak and no risk of water ingress...

What a a******e.

I have a spare airbox(not your one i must add...... :giggle: )

What u mean by enclosed? My mate said just put the cone on the maf don't like the idea of that some people cut down the cai pipe so it fits down the side of the battery ? Has anyone got an example of this would be gratefull of ideas cause I put a shrouded sides cone on and it sounds crap and can't hear the DV anymore it has to go cheers

He means put a cone (with small pipe)on a MAF but also use a plate or enclosure to separate the cone from the engine heat. i.e enclosed.

like these

Also don't just fit a cone ion MAF as you will get heat soak.

There a bit on the high side money wise I think I might cut down my cai then put a cold air feed in what u recon?

like this? did it while back is a bit of a squeeze :giggle:

There are a few on Briskoda for sale section (well last time I looked) way cheaper. Or make up a shield with you std cone and just extend the cone with a silicon pipe.

Or yes cut down you CAI pipe, but then the cone is between battery and wing and may not get good air flow unless you feed a pipe to it

This is what I did years ago and will put this back in for now.
