Deadlocked back door?

My fabia has had a deadlocked back door for some time now an due to mot reasons I have to fix it , we'll I smashed the old locking mechanism to pieces and levered the lock open , door opened yay, fitted new mechanism attached inside handle and boom I could open the door from the inside , as soon as I attached the outside handle to the mechanism an shut the door it went into deadlock now my door is now completely jammed again , why is this??? Plz help I have 9 days left to fix it

Yh mate , becus before I attached the outside handle the cable was attached and only the inside handle was attached and it worked fine , some how the outside handle is preventing it from working but I have no idea why

did you remember to attach the spring over the latch?

the spring is on the lock and can't be clipped in place if the lock has been refitted. Have you got a Haynes manual handy?

So if I take the outside handle of the mechanism do you reckon. It would open again or is it completely deadlocked again? And no I don't have a Haynes manual mate

The spring with the arrow pointing left needs to be hooked over the part under the arrow pointing down before re-fitting the lock.

That spring you was on about I have taken it out and I can place it in with slight difficulty but what is the purpose of this spring anyways ?
