Octavia FSI 1.6 - Owners views wanted.

Featured Replies

Hi,  Is there anyone in the forum who owns a 1.6FSI octavia ?.  I have my eyes on a 1.6FSI 2008 Octavia and I would like owners views on fuel consumption, engine problems etc ?

I am moving from a 1.9SDI fabia (dont laugh) which was excellent on fuel, but slow as a tortoise and did not have enough room (I have a small child as well), so reliability is high on the list of requirements.  Only doing around 9-10k per year.

Any opinions/views would be really appreciated !

Ian.

Over here in NI, 2008 Elegance model for 5,495 (39k).  Looks like the car I would like, ticks all the boxes.  Any problems you have had ?, is yours the standard model ?.

Does the DSG gearbox pose any issues that you have encountered ?

As far as i know my elegance model is standard, it has all the toys i want and more( to many to list).. there have been no problems and when I test drove it ther was a rubbing noise, showroom had all the discs and pads replaced no noise. The dsg box is great does all I want it to do and if i want more fun I put It in sports mode ( longer gear runs) hardly ever use the manual shift  I find there's no need. Only issue is that on the motorway on long hills it will drop into 5th pressuably due to lack of torque for those revs at 70mph. The kick-down is brilliant.  I think your price might be a bit high, but don't know N.I. prices - Haggle a bit give it a test run and let me know .   Bob.

Waiting on the dealer to come back with the service record before I even set foot in the vehicle.  The prices in Northern Ireland are quite a bit higher than the UK,  I was tempted to try one of auction houses in the UK such as BCA, but would have no idea what the prices would be in the auction, but some LOVELY cars on there !

Dealer has had the car since august and has said there would be room for movement.  If the car was a diesel it would have been sold already, no-one wants to touch petrol cars over here !

I just love Skodas !

have atest drive you will love it, even if you don't buy it. what colour is it. Bob

Hi Ian,

Looks like a clean tidy motor, didn't realise it was manual, the leather would push the price up a bit. Other than that it seems the same spec as mine. Two things I like is the adjustable centre arm rest( up & down - slides back & fore aswell) and the air con blows in the centre armrest compartment and the glove box, good for keeping cans cool.

Bob.
