Featured Replies

Hi guys just memberd as I'm after an octavia vrs.

I've never had one before so was hoping someone could help by having a look at this car linked below.

It's got a maf/abs sensor fault could this be a big problem ?

I'm pritty good on the tools been an engineer so if it does need a new sensor etc it shouldn't be a problem.

But I don't want to take the plunge if its going to need major work.

I know i need to budget for a new Cambelt as I don't think it's been done.

Any help would be greatly appreciated its over 80 miles so I don't want to waste the sellers time or mine by going and having a look.

ABS prob needs looked at.

You've not said the age of the car but you might need to do some reading on the Teves Mk60 ESP fault. Quite common on VRSs of 4yr +. Costs about £300 to fix. Part was £180 for me.

The other common ABS fault is a sensor fault but it's not actually the sensor it's the magnets set into the hub that have rusted. Needs a new hub and sometime the sensor too. Normally on the rear left for some reason.

Dunno about the MAF not had that issue.

If you're doing the cambelt budget for a new water pump at the same time. Most people replace it to save it being an issue later since the cost is very small when you're doing the belt anyway.
