Wipers parked in wrong place

Featured Replies

Have been asked to look at my mum's Fabia 1.4 w reg. The front wipers come to rest, a quarter up the windscreen ! I have read somewhere that there is a position sensor fitted. Where is this sensor ? Would this be the problem ? and is this something I could replace without taking it to the stealers ? Thanks in advance for any input. Will carry on some more digging.

sounds like someone's had them off and not refitted properly  assuming they always park in the same place pop them off and refit in park pos'     might be tight ---don't over tighten

No there is a fault' as they sweep perfectly. Have been informed that the sensor in the motor is faulty.

the sensor is most likely a switch   (not done furby one)    and if faulty will not park    where ever     strip it and see

Motor is at fault, quite common.

Changed two in the past year anyway....

Thanks for your replies........have ordered a motor from breakers & will take the old one apart out of curiosity.

I still have the old ones I removed, kept them for the wiper linkages which I replaced at the same time. Aprox £130 from vw iirc! About two month old and the motor brakes...

Have another motor and linkage....but how the hell do you remove the old one ? cannot seem to hook it out, due to the vertical piece with a rubber mounting on. Would appreciate any help.

On the polo I done about a week ago you had to take some of the bulk head out. About 8 torx 30 bits. Not sure on the Fabia mind.
