Featured Replies

Local motor factors are doing deals on castrol at the moment. Question is which castrol oil do I need??

From here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/21250-what-engine-oil-must-i-use-in-my-fabia-vrs/ its saying 10w 40 but the only 10w 40 they have is maganetc which is not vw 505.01 compatiable.

The castrol website is saying 5w 30

:wall:

Castrol 505.01 5W-40
Castrol GTD 505 01 5W-40
Castrol Edge 5W40 Turbo Diesel

Castrol EDGE 5W-30
Castrol SLX LongLife III
Castrol TXT 507 00
Castrol LongLife III Hochleistungsmotorenol
Castrol SLX Longlife III Topup

reading the 2 threads in the link you posted it can be any of those ^^ castrol oils

You MUST use an oil which meets spec VW 505 01 or VW 507 00. The former will be cheaper and is what the handbook specifies. The latter is a longlife oil which also meets spec 505 01. Don't get sidetracked by the SAE rating.

Agreed and must be 5/30 or 5/40 rating
