Yeti & Xenon?

Featured Replies

Were Xenons ever an option on 2010 or later petrol models, specifically the 1.8?

If so, how do you tell by looking at them in pictures as the sellers rarely state they have Xenons?

If the lights look like this it's xenon;

Only Elegance and L+K models have them as standard, whatever the engine. They could be optioned on SE and SE Plus Yetis but I would imagine that hardly any were, as you may well have got an Elegance once you've added the extra cost (£655!), given what you get with the Elegance spec on top of this for not much more money.

Thanks for the info.

I haven't seen any ads with Xenon mentioned yet and only seen the second of The Plumbers pictures.

Will keep my eye out for Elegance spec Yetis and see.

As of end 2012, about 35% of Yetis sold in the UK were Elegance spec., so you should find some around.

How do you find out statistics like that Zeb?

For your info, here are the swivelling xenons at work:

That's awesome (having never actually seen it in action before). Thanks.

Need to find a Yeti with Xenons & panoramic sunroof! Not an easy task...

Or keep looking for a Scout!

For me the Xenons have been the single best option I had specified for my Yeti. Over here none of the trim levels have Xenons as standard, but having seen the video above I was instantly sold on them. They didn't come cheap (around 1.5k euros), but as I frequently drive on unlit, bad-quality mountain roads where these lights make a world of difference, it has been money well spent. The difference is vast, both in terms of overall light output, as well as in terms of the difference the swivelling makes. The lights are always pointed where you intend to go rather than just straight ahead.

My only problem is that I am now spoilt and find the lights in any other car I drive inadequate.

I feel the same way - I had no opinion on them until my first Yeti, which came with them - now I wouldn't want a car without them.

Thanks to the above posts, you have all just convinced me to add them to my FL order.

I never knew they had a cornering facility, and, on the FL, they now include LED running lights, so save me having to wait for a reliable LED bulb upgrade.

A couple of years ago when choosing a car I found that the Yeti was one of the few offering Xenons as an option on most of the range.

Most manufacturers , inc Audi and VW, only offered it on the high powered versions.

Very happy with the Xenons which came with the Elegance model.

Agreed, the xenons are one of the best options that I chose on the car. Frequently drive on crap Irish backroads which are covered in all sort of debris at the moment due to high winds and plenty of rain. The excellent spread of light from the xenons combined with the swivelling action make for a much easier driving experience at night.

As minetioned above, the only downside is when you have to drive another vehicle which doesn't have the same feature!
