Right guys, i have a 2001 fabia mk1 1,4 8v that i bought only a couple of days ago from a garage (not a dealership) and has only done 83k and to be honest is immactulate inside and out.

 

So the day i bought it, the car was absolutely fine, plenty of pull, no nasty noises etc. just the wheels that need aligning but anyway...Yesterday the EML came on the dashboard and only tonight have i noticed when i opened the bonnet a god-awful rattle in the engine. Now the bloke i bought it off said the head had just been skimmed, gasket replaced and if i remember correctly the timing chain done. Now i've read similar issues with other peoples car and it seems the most common thing of this type is the timing chain has skipped? 

 

I just need some guidance really, the car is going on the diagnostic computer tomorrow at a local garage but i was just wondering if there's anything anyone can tell me now? i do apologize for being blunt

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Or timing chain tensioner not changed 

Thanks! a bloke at work today said it was most likely to just be a tensioner that hadn't been set when the chain was done. but would that trigger the EML?

there is no tensioner mate, could be a pushrod/hydraulic follower problem possibly but get it checked out asap
