Door handle replacement worries...

Featured Replies

Right, I've finally got round to colour coding a second set of door handles to put on my red Fabia. I finished polishing the handles back up today, so they're ready to fit now.

Obviously I've read the guide on here for how to replace. However, I'm just worried that I'm going to end up with a deadlocked door or something....  Just to confirm, it's important NOT to screw out the torx bit all the way, just a bit. Plus I should mark the bowden cable with tip-ex or something similar so that the cable goes back in the correct place. Is that correct?

I presume there's actually no bolts that need to fully come out? Just torx fasteners loosened? How tight do the torx fasteners go back again? All the way? With regards to rear doors, there's only 1 torx screw I've seen - do these need loosening slightly first with the handle pulled out?

Just trying to get this all 100% straight in my head before attempting it, as I don't want any nasty surprises or problems!

Cheers guys :-)

Right so I got round to doing this today.

The job isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Heart was in my mouth when I was loosening the torx screw, as I didn't want it to drop! Gave behind the door handles a proper polish and wax whilst they were out of the way.

Much better :-)

I now need to machine polish the rest of the car to get the shine back and get rid of those nasty swirls! As the handles stand out a bit because they're that shiny!!

Nice Alex!!

Fancy machining another corrida red one? ;)
