How do you bring mudflaps flush when fitting to the rear?

Featured Replies

Sorry to start another post on this but I'm looking for some info on how you people bring your rear mudflaps flush when fitting them to the rear of the VRS? The bumper must have an inch of an overlap coming in towards the wheel. Is there any way to flush up the arch liner and edge of the bumper to put on a normal rubber mud flap?

I've looked at the OEM ones and I'm not totally happy that they cover as much of the body work as I'd like, but, I don't want the ridiculous rally style flaps either. I'd just go for normal flaps with a skoda or VRS logo if I could figure out a solution to this. I've managed to work it previously with other cars but they weren't particularly strong!

Any help appreciated :)

Don't do it, any aftermarket mudflaps look real bad, especially those 'one size fits any car' types on eBay.

Go OEM or not at all would be my advice.

To answer your question building up the arch liner will be difficult as its a fabric / carpet type material with very little support behind it.

I think Skoda made it this way on purpose to stop people fitting dodgy flaps to their cars :giggle:

Look at these beauties!

It's a shame the OEM ones aren't just an inch nearer the ground. Judging by the pics on the threads here, they seem too short to be useful? Don't suppose you can tell me what ones I'll need for a 2006 VRS? I'd imagine the older, more square ones?

You have a choice of the older pre-FL square profile or the newer FL rounded profile.

No mud flaps are perfect, in fact I never noticed any improvement on my 2007 vRS with flaps fitted.

All they seemed to do was hold dirt, salt, grit and leaves up against the front wings.

But some people on here said they saw an improvement and as I'd paid for them and taken the effort to fit them I left them on.

OEM ones are fine on my Elegance.

I've been getting OEM flaps (or splash guards as they now call them) for 20 years on new and nearly new cars. Never paid for them either - Always added them in as the deal is closed and signed.

To make it flush just use something as a spacer and attach through it with longer screws into existing holes for liner. As said above you do run the risk of it looking rather pikey though. OEM in my view are more spray suppression and pebble dashing reducing from loose surfaces.
