Maxxis VS01

Featured Replies

I have been quoted at £72 per tyre, I need 4. I have 18" wheels.

Are these any good? I don't do many miles per annum, less than 8k per year. Only 20 miles per day.

I have been told yokohama's are £90 per tyre. Is it worth paying the extra?

Although a "summer" tyre, the VS01s are sold as "all weather". If they're anything like the older MA Z4S tyre then you should also find they're not too bad as it gets colder/wetter. I suspect the Yokohamas would have better performance outside these cold/wet conditions i.e. a "summer" tyre in the true sense (not winter, cold weather tyre or 4 season).

Depends what you want, but I've been happy enough with Maxxis on a three different 170 PS cars and you might think there's 20% more benefit in the Yokohamas for performance in your vRS. No right answer 'til you've tried both.

I currently have nexen 9000's. Not a bad tyre, but don't seem to last that long. The two front ones only lasted around 10k miles.
