1.8 TSI DSG 4x4 Estate, awaiting date

Featured Replies

Ordered on 11th of October 1.8 TSI DSG 4x4 Estate:

- Denim blue

- Electric sunshine roof + boot

- Rough road package

- KESSY

- Bi-Xenon AFS

- Wind screen & front seat heater

- Partial black leather

Still no date though :/ The dealer said today that factory capacity for estates is on its limit, but nevertheless it should be here by February 2014 the latest

I made a test drive a few weeks ago, several Czech registered 1.8 TSI DSG 4x4s were present as demonstration vehicles, and the drive was sublime. Effortless and quiet overtaking, aggressive cornering initiates aggressive intervention by the Haldex V system :)) it felt like a solid kick in the back just when you start to understeer :)

Will keep you posted but I'm chewing off my nails just to know my build week!!

BR,

Pavel

Hi Pavel,

by coincidence also ordered our 2.0 TDI 150 4x4 on the 11th October and been given end of January for delivery.

Hopefully we will both lucky and see our 4x4's sooner rather than later.

Hey, congratulations! That's great news :)

I think the 2.0 TDI will be the top-seller version and definitely the most sensible choice. I've driven both the 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI in town and there was almost no difference in terms of acceleration. In terms of handling they were very close as well, because the 1.8 TSI is almost as nose-heavy as the diesel (1.4 TSI is lighter though). The price difference was very marginal and i though that for this tight margin the DSG is a bargain :)

The reason i opted for the TSI was, first, it was the only one available with DSG and my wife is not used to manual gearchange and second, the start-stop system with the diesel seemed more frustrating. Especially in the cold you don't want your diesel start-stopping, yes you can turn this off, but then again you have no choice but pay for the start-stop anyway.

Compared to my current TDI-PD the new TDI-CR is a lot more quieter from the outside, but from the inside the rattle was still noticeable (it's still a 4 cylinder).

But in the end the 2.0 TDI will get much better fuel economy and cheaper road tax so it is definitely the pick of the bunch family choice.

We only get the TDI versions of the 4x4 and in SE (Ambition) trim, which restricts choice and spec a little but that's our importer for you.

However low running cost are important for me, so I'm happy with TDI.

Hi Pavel,

Congratulations, you've got great spec!

I have ordered a 1.2 TSI Elegance Estate on 19.10.2013, so we might be getting our cars delivered at a similar time.

On the day of the order, the dealer told me that the delivery time for estates is about 2-3 months (more likely 3).

I will keep you posted.

Congrats! So you are waiting for date as well?

Well, I even asked the dealer to remove/change some extras, if that would speed up delivery.

They said that long waiting is not because of extras/engines, but only because of bad planning for estates production. The guy said that 65-70% of the orders from Europe are estate cars. This may be or may not be true of course, however I read here in the forum that people have been told different reasons for the long delivery period...

Have you got the DSG or manual? It will be very interesting combination the 1.2 TSI with 7-speed DSG.

No, I don't have a date yet. I will probably contact the dealer next week to see if he has news for me.

As for the gearbox - it's manual. I felt I wouldn't be missing the DSG too much, since I've never driven one, and I had to keep the costs down
