Octavia Blackline economy worse after 1st service?

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I got my Blackline from new last year - I was in the group of owners that ordered one as soon as they could which was months before actual release date. I was pretty impressed with the economy from the word go, and all last year over 10,000 miles never struggled to get to around 48/49mpg on my daily work commute.

However, since my free first year service at the end of September (done at Derek Slacks) my economy seems to have dived? I now have to REALLY try hard to get my mpg to around 44, I fact if I drive as I normally drive it my mpg is closer to 41.

Could anything have been done in that service which could contribute to this mpg loss?

Check your tyre pressures they set mine too low and i lost about 5 mpg, I set mine to 33 psi all round and get 50 mpg average on my 50 mile round trip mostly motorway.

Tyre pressures?

Tyre pressures?

The lower the tyre pressure the greater the rolling resistance, just try pushing a car with low tyre pressures.

Colder weather perhaps?

Could be the weather and tyre pressures. For a run from SW to Birmingham I have no issue seeing 52-54mpg.7

I am up there next week so will be interesting in the colder weather.
