upright parcel shelf problem solved

Featured Replies

Other owners have commented on the vertical parcel shelf problem before. I have the perfect solution. A walking stick on the back seat so that everytime you jump in and realize the shelf is upright. just turn round grab the stick and jab the shelf closed.Genius lol

Discovered after frequent incidents involving elderly parent driving and shopping trips

I just make SWMBO sit in the back

Or ban the pensioner from driving.lol

Not fair though as the car was bought for "the mammy"

I only get to fuel it insure it and pay for it in the first place.

As is well established, I don't have a Citigo and won't be getting one ....so no real axe to grind.....but have sympathy for those who, occasionally, have to get out and lower the rear shelf as I have a Hyundai i10 which has the same arrangement.  Except that the Hyundai one is far more technically advanced. Mine is self closing.  That is to say you raise it to get the shopping in the boot...and just as you're offering up the pack of 6 Lidl sparkling water with one hand and the pack of kitchen rolls with the other.....it senses the advancing heavy and cumbersome nature of the water ....and closes just before final placement in the boot.  Thus necessitating aborting the manouevre and starting again.

I took it in to be looked at - twice in fact - and was assured it was fixed - but they lied.  It was exactly the same.  Some say they lie a lot, but that would be defamatory.  However, if you didn't have any shopping and inadvertently left it up it would, then, sense the situation- and stay up until you stop the car and get out and lower the thing.  Amazing technology.

Have to say I don't really have a problem with the boot shelf - even if I forget that I have raised it, my arms are long enough that I can simply turn round from the front seats and push it down!

SWMBO on the other hand gets quite annoyed.

SWMBO found hit the speed ramps at good speed problem solved :wall:  :wall:

Had my Citigo a month now. Found that initially I was frequently driving off with the shelf up. Now find I automatically remember to put it down after putting some shopping in the boot. Feel quite smug when I remember ..... You haven't caught me out this time you bugger !!

Agree i remember now each time :)
