3rd cylinder lead

Featured Replies

Hello...

I had a bad experience 2 days ago with my fabia 1.2 tsi...as i was driving along a mild traffic it started misfiring all the check lights turned on limp mode kicked in and the car was barely keeping 800 rpm to idle....

Went to the workshop where we found (without vcds or vas ) that the 3rd cylinder was missfiring...did compression test all was ok plus the plug it self was fine....Changed the plug lead and everything was ok....

The disturbing thing that i noticed (not only on my car but another fabia and an a3) was that the distibutor (if thats the name) had corrosion only on the 3rd lead in all af them...the other 3 were clean...

Common issue with the leads being too close to the turbo heat shield.

On our car lead 1 and 4 were damaged and were changed to the new design that has a plastic shield around them that protects them from heat.

I paid to have 2 and 3 replaced too and claimed the cost from skoda (£38).
