tuning a 1.6

Featured Replies

i have a 1.6, lame i know but it was cheaper to insure than a VRS, is there anyway to tune this without too much expense?

all i have is a custom backbox so far, maybe change that to a full exhaust but dont want it too loud.

was thinking of the basics like an induction kit but dont know whats the best one for my engine..

any help would be appreciated :D

for non-turbo engines, thats more or less all you can do that is worthwhile. Induction kit and remap can be done, but you won't get much power for your money.

Induction kit wise, as long as it fits it should be ok. everyone had a brand preference, but at the end of the day they all do the same job.

dont want to goto the hassle of re-mapping, would be diff if it was a tuned vrs but not worth it for a 1.6 i dont think.

i'll prob just go the induction kit for now, brands dont matter to me, my mates got a company that does that kind of thing, i'll get him to make one up for me so it fits perfect.

cheers for the help tho :D

You'd see about 10% gain tops for a remap on it...if you wanted to change the way it drove, you're probably best looking at different profile cams, but that's even more hassle than a remap!

Other thing is to lighten the car, remove the spare wheel, back seats and anything else you can think of that you don't need...
