New skoda rapid 136 :D

Featured Replies

Hello all I am having a few troubles with a new rapid I recently purchased it has a 136 m engine out of a Felicia, when I collected the car there were no problems pulled like a dream just as fast as my other rapid but 3miles down the road the dizzy died :( after being brought home on a flat bead I have managed to get her running smooth on idle, but as soon as I try to dive in gear when the engine is under load it just seems to be gutless - no power I need 4k revs just to take off, almost like the brakes are binding but they are as free as a bird. Does anyone have any ideas ? post-83045-13841078215224_thumb.jpg

Wow, so it did find a buyer!

Daverapid is your man! He's in Cambridgeshire too so hopefully not far for you to travel.

Got a bit jealous you've got two so I thought why not :D

 What was done with the distributor to get it running again? Whereabouts in Cambridgeshire are you?

Fitted new dizzy, new points but old rotor arm, condenser, cap and leads and I'm in st ives :D

Probably a timing issue, but like I say, Daverapid is your man :)

Have you had to raise the tick over by adjusting the carb? If so, it'll be timing.

Yep adjusted the carb to get it running smooth but If run it any higher all it does is backfire more Loud enough so as I still can't hear properly today

What happened to the original distributor? Sounds very much like a timing issue, or maybe a faulty condenser.

It has a crack on the lower mounting the bar itself ad a lot of play and there was metal filings in the top, ok will try a new condenser tomorrow see if that helps
