driver door sensor and other interior intermittant faults

Featured Replies

2004 1.9tdi (130) - System does not know when the car door is open and does not skow as open on the central display (all other door sensors and boot are working). This was an intermittant issue but now continuous. Biggest pain is that the alarm wont sound if lights are on and driver door is opened and has caught me out a few times when leaving the house when dark and arriving to work when light and you dont realise you have left your lights on. Other intermittent issues (that I can think of) are

-top third on central display (one that shows radio station) goes on and off and sometimes turns red

-heated window wont come on

-Interior lighting wont come on when open door or unlock

-On very rare occasion, windows, sunroof and horn stoped working all at the same time. They came back hour or two later but turning off didnt work.

I am thinking of the control unit in passanger floor. Had water ingress a year ago but floor behind driver took all the damp. Dont believe passanger side took any but that doesnt mean it hasnt. Can remember if I had any of these problems before ingress.

Any thoughts on the reason or fix????

Thanks

Sounds like the usual corrsion type fault after water ingress, do all the other convenience features work ok puddle lights, remote locking interior lights?

It maybe in the door lock itself I believe thats where the switch is located, have you scanned it for codes?

After re reading your post I would pull the carpet up and check for corrosion I am pretty sure the ccm is front passenger side but once inside the water will travel, between the door carriers, sunroof drains and pollen filter housing to name just three these cars are like sieves.

Search the forum too there is a lot of similar issues

hope you get it sorted

I'm 99,99% sure it is corrosion between the wires going to the ECM under the carpet. Take all wires apart and check them individually. All the way into the ECM.

Thanks for the feedback. Since my last post, the door sensor has started to work again but I'm not holding my breath.

All the other convenience features seem to work but havnt done any scans.

I will check the ECM then as this seems like the most likely cause at this stage.

What is the access like as I have been told that I would probably need to remove the seat to remove the carpet to get access.

Thanks

most likely cause of your problem with the drivers door is the micro switch on the lock mechanism that controls the interior lights to check this unlock the doors using the remote open the drivers door (this should disable the relock facility) just close the door but dont lock if the door relocks itself then the relock facility has not recieved a signal from the micro switch now for the bad news if it is the switch Mr Skoda only sells the complete lock unit. Now for some good news you can replace it with a decent push button switch from Mr toyota 2000 avensis (local breakers yard ) take the wires down to the bottom of the door drill a little hole and hey presto job done the other problem with the red display and sometimes KMs instead of MPG is the comfort module under the carpet having a little fun and doesn't seem to get any worse with time
