Which type of Service should I be having next?

Featured Replies

I've got a 3 year old 1.8 TSI manual Octavia, it was on variable servicing when I had it.  I had a service after 2 years and then had it changed to fixed intervals.  I'd only done 2.5k miles after 2 years, the invoice says it was a longlife service using longlife oil but I only got charged £130 due to the low mileage.

I want to keep using longlife oil even though I'm on fixed intervals as I've read it's better for the turbo etc, would the next service be a Major or Minor one?

I've had 3 quotes from local Skoda garages for a Service, brake fluid change and MOT - £264, £245 and £217.  Why is there such a big difference in the quotes?

The cheapest price was from the dealer where I had the 1st service but I'm not keen on them as they failed to find the fault with the air-conditioning compressor after 2 attempts and blamed me for not using it enough, plus I had to take it back to them after the service as some oil had dripped out.

Would I be better waiting a few weeks until after it is 3 years old so that I can have the fixed price servicing?

Thanks

Get it serviced before the warranty expires, and get the first MOT done early too. That way if any problems are found there will be time to get them addressed under warranty.
