What stages of tune is there for the vRS?

Featured Replies

Am I right in thinking that stage 1 is just a remap and stage 2 is bigger/hybrid turbo, fmic (optional?) and supporting remap and that's it?

Was looking at a astra gsi and a stage 1 was panel filter, cat back exhaust and remap and so on. Do air filters and exhausts make no difference to level of tune on these?

Exhausts and filters don't make any difference in diesels really mate as the cat doesn't restrict them like it does on petrols

Stage 1 is mapped

Stage 2 is hybrid turbo

Stage 3 is big ass turbo on custom manifold

Stage 4 if you can get a stage 4 would be darkside developments twin turbo golf or their 500bhp seat arosa

I know they make little difference if any I just find it wierd that you don't see tuners offering a stage 1 kit as intake, exhaust and map. Must just be I'm used to petrols as this is my first diesel

I think twin turbo golf etc isn't deserving of a stage at all.  It's way above that :D

I would argue it would go like you above, only stage 3 would be a big stock turbo, say up to around 250-260bhp, and then stage 4 is your stage 3, i.e big ass turbo - with perhaps 300+bhp in mind. :)

You want bragging right to stage 4 don't you ;)

dont you need a bigger / different intercooler over the 180bhp ish mark ?

In an ideal world you should really run a fmic at mapped bhp

I could heat soak my mapped vrs that bad i could put it into limp mode on a warm day

only heat soaked mine into limp mode once on a trackday in about 28 degrees at knockhill so don't see how you could do it on a warm day summet not right there lol
