Feeling after stage 1 map

Featured Replies

Hi all,

When you've had a stage one map on a pd170 has anyone ever had the engine loose its punch at low end but just feel much smoother instead?

Im told it should have just been much more punch but it seems to just be much smoother, quicker but the mpg isnt as expected either

Where have you had it done mate?

Avon tuning in bristol.

They are pretty good and im still in contact with them asking carious questions.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar?

My car had a remap when I bought it, was very jerky at low revs. You'd start moving at a roundabout/junction and a second later it would suddenly stop accelerating unless you put your foot down, but then you'd get a huge dollop of torque! Had a new map put on that's a lot smoother round town and up the rev range. MPG isn't too bad, around 45mpg for my typical journeys (60mph down country roads).

My car was remapped when I bought it, and dpf off. The car feels very, very torquee when you put your foot down. I'm averaging 45mpg on motorway and 30+mpg in city. Have you tried to fill Millers diesel cleaner? You should give that a go, then take it on the motorway. Your mpg should go up, is your dpf removed?

Do Avon tuning have dyno test/rolling road? I spoke to South West Car Tech, and they were charging me £55 inc VAT for dyno test.

I didnt see one in their workshop so I dont think so.

Im getting the same mpg as you tbh. The thing thats got me thinking is the guy running Avon tuning said I shold be getting into the 50's.

No worries, will head up to South West in Chipping Sodbury. Quite a few remap garages will say that, at most you will get in to 40+. You won't get into 50's I doubt it.

Ive compared it to a a4 with a cr170 and its defo more agressive. The a4 only had esp in 1st and 2nd where as i had it in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

I think i might have been worrying about nothing bit im still gonna keep an eye on the mpg.
