Crafty or not - OEM ContiSport tires.

Featured Replies

Noticed something for the first time on Sunday when I cleaned and polished my OEM Summer alloys to go in their storage bags.

I still just about have the OEM ContiSport II on my alloys (fronts down to 3mm) and on the outside face they quote Engineered in Germany, but on the inside edge they have Made in the Czech Republic on them.

Bit cratfy if you ask me - implying that they are made in Germany - not saying there is anything wrong with being made in a Czech Republic factory - but they are being a bit crafty to my mind.

Thats not uncommon in my field (IT/Audio Visual). Engineered in the US, made in China (like pretty much every Apple product) for example.

Yes but this is on the inside of the tire - so not normally seen by the customer, unlike IT/AV where it is usually clearly marked where the consumer can see it.

Wherever they are made they are still crap. Goodyear assymetric2's are much better :)

Funny thing to get all precious about seeing as the car is made in the Czech republic. (which is actually a really nice country)

Its a bit like your american apple products which you pay through the nose for that are all made in China or Your Australian can of Fosters which is brewed in England, the list is endless.

I have no issue with them being made in the same country as the car - it is more the crafty labeling by Continental, Engineered in Germany proudly on the outside face of the tire, and the Made in on the inside that isn't on view unless you look at the back of the wheels.
