Navigation announcements

Featured Replies

When using the sat nav I like to turn off the announcements until I'm closer to the destination (don't need directions getting out of my road)

I used to go through the menus to do this but then found the voice recognition can be used to turn it on/off. Makes it much easier when driving.

Only issue is I've found that it sometimes says guidance announcements are turned on but I don't get the announcements. I have to turn them off and on several times before they eventually turn back on. Definitely a firmware bug, anyone else had this??

Nope, but try convincing your dealer you need a firmware update - I'm still waiting for mine to get a response from Skoda.

What with the album art being a bit random if it displays or not, one day it will, the next day it won't, for the same files as the day before!

Also, doesn't seem to store the station logos.

But, I am on firmware 0101, VW have put 0200 on some units, although 0179 seems to be the best compromise at the moment.

The only problem is it is a dealer only thing as it triggers SVM and needs VAS to recode a few things!

Gone are the days of doing your own firmware updates on a Columbus ...............

That's pretty poor. Firmware updates are easy to update yourself and every other electronic thing out there allows the customer to do it

Seems VAG want us to return cars to a dealer for an update, that surely is a waste of time as we wouldn't be paying for it. Why not let the customer do it???

What is the command to turn it off and on.

I do long drives, and as with you, I only want it for the last bit of the journey, but this is usually whne you are concentraing most so you dont want to be fiddling with the menu items.

"Shut up bitch"

LOL.

On a Columbus (not the MIB one) you can press the lower right round button to hear the next announcement and whe she's speaking turn the volume down.

Has this changed?

The voice command is "navigation announcements on/off". When on the navigation screen, press the voice command button on the steering wheel and available commands are shown on the screen.

Problem with the turning the volume down is that you need to wait for an announcement and even then you can't turn it off fully. You can only turn it down to 1.

I don't have this available as a voice command on mine ..........
