Wishbone bush change

Featured Replies

Do you need to remove subframe and consoles to change front and rear front wishbone bushes as rang a garage for a quote and they said that they do

Thought it was gunna be a quick easy job remove wheels remove wishbones change bushes and put them back on

My old garage used to remove them and press the new bushes in, current garage doesn't. I've never taken them out and done loads now...

Always worth quoting extra incase the console bolt strips and it has to be changed I guess.

Depends if you have the tool to do it / can get the parts to make it yourself mate. It's made of two large thick washers, a threaded bar and two nuts.

I didn't have the tool so I removed the consoles (it's only a few extra bolts to remove it), and stuck the new bushes in with a vice.

Well fitting powerflex ones but was put off doing it myself by being told the subframe has to come off and reading about bolts snapping and stripping thread

The subframe as in what the engine fits to? Not at all.

It's around 6 or 8 more bolts to be removed, can't remember exactly. You can clearly see them underneath the car, two of which hold the steering rack in place. Really easy and i'd probably do it that way again if I have to.
