asr light !

Featured Replies

hi all

well to cut a long story short went for a drive and with the weather being soo cold and slippery i wasn't even tempted to turn the asr off. so coming back home suddenly wondered why i couldn't get the power down so looked down and the light that would say the asr is off was flicked on. so tryed to get the light off the dash pushing the button and wouldn't go off!! so stopped outside shops turned the car off went and turned car back on light was no more on and could press the asr button on and off and all is working :S!! so question is what is going on!!!

any help would be grateful

thanks all

Pretty sure the ASR light coming on is linked to a MAF issue?

+1, been mentioned a couple of times, quick search should help.

Yeah, MAF or wheel speed sensor.

The cable going to the sensor on mine came out of it's holder on the suspension strut and rubbed the wires bare against the inside of the rim intermittently making contact with the rim on turns (turning the ASR light on) so that is worth a check too..

don't know if this is any help but car is on stage 2 with the exception of the 3 inch tip which i am still waiting for as its been mapped for that tip and also have had coolant temp sensor changed in the thought that it might of been the cause of it taking a while get to 90c but no avail but it will stay at 90c all day just takes along time to get there. i also did do a search on the topic and came up with suggestions but thought i would ask incase there might of being a definite answer to it as i have tryed before unplugging the maf and it did seem to run better but i couldn't get a 100% answer on that also before i forget if maf is playing up with that also cause cold running issue's ?? as it does seem to run abit off

Hi there i would suspect your MAF buddy

A sign of a faulty MAF is the car running better with MAF unplugged  and the ASR light flashing or coming on constantly.

And you have both of those symptoms. so i would recommend replacing it
