Xbox One GAME prices

Featured Replies

Just been in Game to see about Forza 5 to go with my Xbox One on Friday and they are selling it for £55 still. I was accosted by a sales chap while I was staring and asked if the price would come down on Friday (Amazon etc all had their prices at £55 for a wile before dropping them) and was told that this was the price of games for the new system as its new and fabulous.

As usual he claimed the overheads and internet being evil and that they cant match amazons prices. I argued that they did for 360 games most of the time so why are they charging an extra £10 for XBONE games? Greed is the only answer I can see.

All their XBONE games were £55.

This is why they were almost bankrupted recently. He tried to encourage me to ditch my Amazon XBONE pre-order and switch to them so i could have forza for £45 as part of a bundle. I could "even pay today to speed things up on Friday". I flattened that argument with a tale of how I lost £10 when they bankrupted the first time and refused to honor or refund pre-order deposits for Mass Effect 3 so I certainly wasnt going to part with over £400 in advance.

This time next year they will be closed. IMHO anyway.

Forza 5 is £49.99 the Steelbook Edition is £59.99 at game. Game will be fine they won't close anytime soon Shopto.net are £44.98 for Forza 5. The Game version has more content as its the day one edition but i would never ever buy from shopto

I want the Xbox One but don't want to pay £429, so i hope the price will come down after christmas.

The Downloadable version of the games actually seem cheaper for a change!

£35 for Angry Birds! I hope those prices aren't right, with season passes being that sort of money as well! Yet another reason not to upgrade yet then...

I pre ordered ghosts with my xbox one and I'm getting £20 off the £59.99 price tag for it. The Xbox one also comes with a free download of FIFA 14. Wouldn't let me swap it for Forza though.

Same here so I had to buy forza. I was hoping the FIFA code would allow any download to a set value but that would be far to sensible.

I'm not keen on the footy games at all.

Update for the Xbox one then followed by a massive one for cod! How long!!!!

I was surprised they were able to run again after going bust as their business model didn't seem to work.  I don't mind paying more in a shop to get better service where I want to see the item first and might be reliant on good after sales but with games (aside from the consoles themselves) there's no service or after care needed plus I found the service in Game to be appalling.  I couldn't understand how they were taking so long to serve customers when I was buying a game, there weren't many ahead of me but they were taking 10-15 minutes per customer just to sell a couple of games.  When I reached the till I quickly found out why as they tried to offer me strategy guides (oops sorry, don't have a PC one let me go check), season passes (oops sorry, don't have a PC one let me double check that) etc.

More recently I saw they had a cheap WRC game in the window with some decent DLC so thought might as well go for it, I was initially a little annoyed that when I handed over the tatty display box that they were using that rather than a sealed one or a new box.  I then noticed they hadn't put the DLC in which was advertised as a large sticker so I queried this and was told that it was only for preorders, I didn't say anything but the person queried it with the assistant beside him who took a more aggressive tone asking why was I expecting preorder DLC when I hadn't preordered the game.  I was going to point out that the large sticker on the front of the box (and all the others they had out) and that it made no reference to requiring a preorder but just thought stuff it and told them to leave it.  Ok, the condition of the box doesn't make that much difference to the game nor would the DLC but at the same time I was buying a brand new game advertised with DLC whereas the condition of this one was worse than many are second hand.

I haven't been in the store since although was amused to notice for quite some time after, the WRC game was still out on display with the large free DLC stickers.  If I'm organised I order the games online or for 3DS games which seem a similar price in Tescos to Amazon I just buy them there, I'm not advocating Tescos but at least I can go in, put the game straight through the till and walk away with a brand new sealed game.

I was in Game again today and they are still selling all the games at £55 including Forza 5 which is only £45 to download direct as pointed out by Neo_VR above.

The downside is that you have nothing to trade it later or ebay as there's no physical copy of the game.

Essentially they can do as they please as there's no real high street competition for them and they wont price match supermarkets or online (flat refusal today to price match ASDA on the play & Charge kit which is £25 in Game or £20 on amazon and in ADSA).

Once Christmas is out of the way I think they will struggle again.

My local stores prices are the same as Game.co.uk which forza 5 is £49.99 for the Day One edition, i bought the steel book edition which was £59.99 both the day one and steel book editions are exclusive to game in the UK but it sounds as though your local store is charging more than other game stores. i only ever buy from Game.co.uk they have never let me down in all the years i have used them and have always delivered Pre-Orders on the day of release or the day before. i will buy something from the store once every so often but i tend to pre order any games i want well in advance.
