Hey I've an 06 Fabia VRS and coming into this cold weather it has been developing a noise on start up. After a  few minutes, once the car has warmed up a bit it goes away and drives perfectly.

 

Read a few threads that that suggest DMF but watching and listening to those videos doesn't sound like my noise. Here are a few videos I uploaded, sound quality not great but you should be able to hear the noise above the engine.

Difficult to describe the noise, but I took it to a dealership and they changed the fuel filter. They said they didn't always hear the noise, it being intermittent is a problem to diagnose. 

 

My best guess and I'm no mechanic, is some sort of pulley or bearing. The noise is louder inside the car compared to having the bonnet open.

does it make a difference whether the clutch pedal is up , down , biting , somewhere in between?

Engaging the clutch and releasing doesn't make a difference to the noise. No change in the noise on the bite, it sometimes gets louder when the car is moving.
