DPF - Something the manual doesn't say....

Featured Replies

DPF light came on yesterday morning, within a mile and with no opportunity to drive to clear it, the coil light came on and car went into limp mode.

Spoke with dealer and explained the problem (car is waiting to be towed to garage). They mentioned that if the fuel in the tank is less than 15 litres, then it will not regen. Car is sitting just above the red, and as it's my wife's car, it spends most of it's time in the bottom quarter.

Did anyone else know about the no regen if the fuel is low issue? I checked through the manual and it doesn't mention it there....

if this is the case surely we should all know about it if we want our cars to have proper regular DPF regens.

gevans provided this link in another thread which I found useful and the most thorough info I've seen on the DPF and how it works.

That's detailed!

Very interesting to see the various stages of DPF regeneration. Just have my fingers (and everything else) crossed that mine has less than 45 grams. Doesn't mention that regen won't take place with low fuel though.

Does anyone know if this applies to the 2.0 PD too?

I run from full to red each time, so should be ok, but interested to know.
