Light assist linked to GPS?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm experiencing an issue with Light Assist auto main beam on a country lane that I travel on regularly.

It's pitch black and not an adopted highway however auto main beam refuses to activate on the road.

As soon as I return to adopted roads the auto main beam starts working again.

It seems that the system is linked to the GPS and it knows when I'm not on a proper road?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes I have, not 'that' stupid ;-)

The track in question leads down to a club I'm a member of.

For instance last night it was working absolutely fine on the journey there and the second I drove on to the track it stopped working automatically.

There are no lights at all for the camera to detect so I cannot see why it was not activating other than if the car thought I wasn't on a road.

It also did the same as I left only beginning to work when I rejoined the highway.

There's various speed limits within which it works differently. If I remember correctly, If you go under 65 km/h (40-ish mph), it won't activate the main beam.

But to answer the question, no... it isn't linked to the GPS.
