VRS Judder on Start-up & Thud when Lifting off - Help

Featured Replies

Problem 1:

Need some advice regarding a strange judder on start-up. When I turn on the car from cold (bearing in mind I'm in Qatar/its winter and not less than 20 degrees) I get a judder for about 20 seconds?

My Clio Cup used to have this issue (believe it was to reduce emissions on start-up), however I'm not sure if the VRS has the same characteristics.

Problem 2:

When lifting off at low speeds I can hear the engine make a thud, sounds like its moving backwards and forwards. I know it should move but surely not make a thud each time. Car has done under 6,000km.

I would normally just take into the garage if I was in the UK but anyone worked/lived in the Middle East knows that is not so easy here.

Any help would be much appreciated, before I venture to the garage.

Which engine CAVE or CTHE, how old and only covered 6000 km?,

and what servicing has it had, **Air Filter replacement for Example.**

Just asking due to where the fehicle is being used.

Plugs, Oil & Filter, Fuel Used.

no matter which engine really,

it needs put on the Diagnostics, if it is a CAVE engine it may need a ECU update if it has not had one.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

CTHE engine, car is 7 months old

Its not had a service yet, due at 10,000Km, I've cleaned the air filter and had a 5,000km check on oil (not used much)

Car had a fault after 1,500Km, the adaptive headlights controller gave up and had it replaced, the garage said a software update was also done.

what RON of fuel is it running on?

98 RON, the best I can get from the pumps from day one.

I get the slightly rough feel at start up too, although it appears random. As for the Thud you describe, I think I know what you experience. For me it's mainly when cold, and in low gears. Possibly low gear ratio, cold engine and supercharger drag combine to make it a bit rough on and off the throttle. Also it could be the s.charger clutch cutting in/out? Just my thoughts.

In my case it's just a slight jolt, no loud Thud noises at all. No harm getting it checked out
