Vanishing files

Featured Replies

Trying (unsuccessfully) to download a couple of files for my location instructions etc.for this weekends Grizedale stages rally that I'm going away for  tonight.

I click on the files symbols, and an arrow moves downwards towards the start button.

Open up 'my documents' to open them up, but they aren't there!

Checked 'recent documents too, but not there either.

Anybody have a clue where they may have gone?

Had this same problem with another email files download last week too. :wall:

If you saved them, they'll be wherever the save location you selected (or the default) is.

The default location is something arcane, and varies with which Windoze you have.

It's in the Internet downloads folder probably.

Mine's Vista (Yes, I know  :( )

Strange things happen if I click on the arrowed file before it has has fully downloaded.

If I wait a few seconds before clicking on it, everything is hunky-dory.

As KBP has said, file also appears in Owner/Downloads

Had to get the little dog to do a search, and he found 2 of the 8 files in adobe reader!

Still haven't found the others. Must be lost in space somewhere . :wall:

I used to just get a link that I clicked on, and after loading into my documents' , I would get asked do I want to open the file.Dead simple and straightforward

That doesn't happen anymore.

Just get these green blocks to click on now and the THE search then begins as to where they've all gone. :@

Do download stuff from a webmail account( hotmail/yahoo etc) to PC. If so ,chances files will still be on your webmail account . Bit of a bind, but I never tick the box to delete stuff on webmail ,when I delete it on PC.
