Hi folks, my airbag warning light has come on and vcds says 01221 crash sensor side airbag driver side g179. There seems to be a lot of variation as to where this thing is located anyone help? It is a 2007 octy elegance estate. Thanks

I had that recently on an Octavia 2.  The crash sensor is in the drivers door, but first check the wiring where the loom passes from the A post into the door.  The one that I looked at had a broken wire on the yellow plug.

Yes, you'll see where the wires from the door plug into their sockets on the A post, airbag system related plugs are usually yellow.

Hopefully last question, how does the rubber thing come off, just pull? As it is pretty tight

It fits over a plastic surround, which in turn clips into the bodywork.  You can ease it off the surround and then unclip the surround from the body so it is easier to put back together.  A plastic screwdriver like tool is useful for stuff like this, as it minimises the chances of causing any damage.
