Bulb Upgrade

Featured Replies

After reading through the lists of top 5 or 10 mods, a couple of member suggest upgrading bulbs.

What bulbs do ppl recommend ?

Gone for hids4u dipped and main beam kits on SWMBO vRS.

Also got the blue tinged indicator bulbs from them, (de-tango or removal off he egg-yolk look in other parlances -blue suits Black Magic paintwork) and am going to order the led reversing lights (canbus ones a re up to £15 but from what ive seen on another car they are well worth it)

night breaker plus dipped and main

halfords indicator bulbs .... look blue in sunlight but flash orange

led reverse , numberplate and front side lights

I has Osram night breaker plus they were excellent but literally lasted just under a year (both sides). I've now paid a little extra for the Philips xtreme and they are very good too, I'd say brighter than the osrams

I've done the above previously, but the difference between them and HIDs is, well, nights no day, pardon the pun.

Personally I'd go so far to say as once you've had them you won't want normal bulbs.

depends if its done legally (not suggesting yours isnt) .... a hid kit / reflector bulb in a standard halogen headlight (without a projector lense) is illegal for a reason and only someone very inconsiderate would do it .... if you want to go down the hid route get the correct headlamps to accompany them

Hids are great in the dry. Unless in wet. Mine has the factor hid and projectors. Kind of ok but nothing special. Looks cool though

Phillips are good bulbs. Had in my last car. Better than bhids in the winter .

May I say. Hid's only blind you when an idiot has them adjusted all the way up. When traveling on busy roads . Angel them down and they are ok

I got Philips xtreme they are much better than what I had

Agree fletch101, I guess that's why factory xenons have self-levelling.

SWMBO swears by the HIDs set up. She went with hids4u as she has had their products before and they are top quality; admittedly you can buy kits that are cheaper, but you soon realise why....

Cheers for that guys, it looks as if the interior and reading lights have given up the ghost also, so I'll see if it's the fuses/bulbs that have blown.

Anyone know what bulbs these should be ?

You can use LEDs inside the car for a crisper whiter light.

501 LEDs of your choice for the map lights and 39-42mm led cluster/festoon for the centre

light. All the interior lights in my old vRS and my current car have beeen swapped out for

LEDs.  Millions of different ones on ebay.

Don't succumb to the thought coloured ones will look cool.

They won't. Keep it white, alright!

Well found the root of the issue, the fuse was blown, so replaced the fuse and there was light, however took the opportunity to change the  bulbs for  some white 501 LED's.

The interior of the fabia is now bathed in bright crisp white light.

I'm liking the LEDs so much I've just ordered a pair of 382 Ultimate Canbus 92 SMD LED Bulbs from hids4u to replace the reversing light bulbs.
