help with oil changing please.

Featured Replies

just a few questions regarding changing the oil on a vrs fab. where abouts is the oil filter? is it in the housing on on the right of the block with the hexagonal bit on the top with a torque setting on it? also does the whole undertray have to come off to get to the sump? can you do this why the car is on the flat or do you have to get it on the ramps?

Oil filter is a cartridge type & is at the front right of the block as you described.

I believe the under tray has to be removed & car on ramps or axle stands.

done it. just manages to reach all the screws without puttin it on the ramps.

where is the drain plug on the sump - I ask, because I don't think the undertray was removed on my car - would it be possible to drain the oil without removing the undertray?

You can remove the oil without taking off the belly pan, well sort of. Some dealerships use a vacuum type device that can suck the oil out through the dipstick tube. This, ofcourse, leaves all the cr@p in the bottom of the sump and quickly contaminates the new oil.

I read on a golf forum about this, but I don't know if any Skoda dealers do it.

the undertray is easily removed, so you might as well train it from the sump.
