sat nav dx - ipod connection

Hi

I have a Skoda Superb Elegance Mk1 2008. I have the Nav DX Head Unit, and recently just bought myself a new ipod classic. I would like to hook this up to the head unit. Ive been looking online and you can get kits for £60-80 bucks which allow you to do this, but looking to see if their is a cheaper alternative, ie just cable running from head unit to the ipod? im not overly fussed about controlling through steering wheel etc.

hoping someone can help, paid nearly £200 for the ipod, not really wanting to spend another £80 just to listen to it in car
