Coilover kit question

Featured Replies

Hi peeps

Seen these

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/coilover-suspension-kits/car/skoda/octavia-96-04-vrs/spax-rsx-coilover-suspension-kit-lowers-35-65mm

Wanted to ask if anyone knows about them for instance quality, firmness, comfort etc....

Also if you need other things to fit them? or just a swap over job

Been looking into coilovers as I would like to be able to adjust the height of the car as where I work sometimes I have to use my car to get there rather than the work car and essentially the road is an unmade road which is about a mile of potholes large stones etc... so I have to go along like 10mph max and it still scrapes in places.

So essentially I could raise it up if I know I have to use my car and then when I'm done I can lower it back down + bit more :)

Need some though that aren't harsh like budget coilovers tend to be as it's a family car and I don't really want my son flung up and down... So long as they're not any firmer than standard suspension

My budget would be 300-600, just thinking that I love the car and don't want it wrecked so worth the investment

coilovers are always gonna be firmer due to the nature of uprated sports parts.

They will never be as comfy as what you have now.

By the sound of it you would be crazy to lower at all due to the roads you are using (tho you can set your coilovers to the same height as you have now).

Changing the height is not hard, but its a pain to do all the time, the reality is you wont (or wont want to) when its cold raining etc (winter time is here).

You want comfort and sport, for that money look at koni fsds and h&r springs. A great setup and more family oriented.

btw the spax rsx looks good on paper

Spax is good but not well known , always use coil overs in vrs , if you want comfort try kW coils but they are expensive ,

But they worth , use high quality suspension always why wasting small amount and hurting our children , while changing to coil overs change your tyres to Michelin pilot also , they can provide you some comfort and try to use stock atb if your not lowering a lot , after market atb will give you firm ride always , but handles good!!!

kw are not comfortable, they are the best, but having owned several sets (i have some on my mk2) they are FIRM, and even on their softest setting are firmer than stock vrs suspension.

As the op mentioned comfort i suggested FSD koni shocks which adapt to your level of driving.

Sounds like you need air ride :)

lol, meant to put that in rob, sounds like he does
