Comma oil?

Featured Replies

Doing an oil change on my 2006 vRS tomorrow and most places only seem to stock the Comma brand for my pd engine.

I've heard mixed reviews on this. Would you just pay the extra and get the proper VAG oil from a dealer? Heard the comma isn't approved as 505.01?

I would guess that Comma or VAG do not make oil, so oil in the can it will be from a large manufacturer and if the spec on the can is what you need of 505.01 then the oil will be fine for your needs.

Get the quantum platinum from dealers. 5 litres for £25

+1 on TPS and Quantum

Yes, I buy quantum platinum too, you can get it from either skoda dealer or tps, be sure to ask for the quantum stuff though otherwise the dealer will give you the branded vag stuff..... Actually not give... It is quite expensive though. As stated above it's about £25 a pop, sometimes cheaper when it's on promotion or if you buy bulk.

Aaaaah I never asked for that stuff, just gave them my reg and it was about £33 for 5ltr

Cheers

I use Q8 oils in the Fabia and Yeti.  One is diesel and one is petrol but both get the same oil.

Just told a mate who works for a none VAG German dealer and he called TPS for me and got me trade price for Quantum oil and genuine filter, all for £27!!

Even though it's not on this list, as long as it meets the required VW spec, it should be fine.

Looking at their website, you should buy: Comma Diesel PD 5W-40  or possibly this long life stuff. Comma Prolife 5W-30

+1 for quantum and TPS.
