She's a 1.6 SOHC Honda D16 (110bhp) powerered rover coupe.

Main mods include:

The spoiler (from a turbo)

The grille (colour coded and meshed)

2.25" decat

282mm brakes with Rover 623gsi calipers

K&N cone filter located behind the battery with cold air feed

Got a strut brace and magnex exhaust en route and plans for Konis and a twin cam D16 engine (130bhp).

Hope you like.

Alex

Nah, honda power is the way forward ;)

Not as quick, but way more reliable, cheaper to maintian and more importantly, revs higher. The power doesn't really come in on mine til about 4800rpm, makes it fun to drive.

fair enough :)

tbh i haven' t driven my skoda for a little while now :S

been preoccupied with work and stuff

should hopefully be getting my sierra halfbreed on the road soon enough though :P

Honda engines cannot fault them TBH. Nice tidy car :)

looked at the coupe's when i bought the R19 before the vRS.

the 1.6 was the one i was looking at as well. nice motors although i'm told the targa can get noisey at speed...

heard of a few running VTEC lumps some honda's which would be nice. wonder if the 160bhp vti lump would go in there? or maybe a 200bhp DOHC Vteci from the CTR would fit !?

Yeah, the roof can get noisey at above about 50/60 mph. Been in my mates turbo at illegal speeds and it can get very loud then. However I just turn the music up. You get used to it after a while tbh, you only notice when you go in other cars and think... hey something's different, I can hear what people are saying.

There are/have been a couple of coupes with DOHC VTEC engines in (B16, the 160bhp one), the most famous was owned by a guy called Jonny, who built it into a beast of a car (to about 180bhp), then turbo'd it. That's a lot of power in something that weighs 1100kg.

Unfortunatly a tyre blow out put him in hospital and wrote off the car.

The engine was then put back to nasp and put into somebody else's coupe(martin), who is now running 200bhp+ with NOS

Both these guys have been a great help in educating me about rovers and hondas... they know their stuff to put it mildly.

I'd love to have a VTEC, but it's a very complicated conversion, hence I just want the D16 DOHC (same as in CRX non vtecs) which is a straight swap.

There's also a load of SOHC VTEC coupes about, this is a pretty simple mod, but only gets about 125bhp and isn't as tunable as the DOHC engines.

Oh, and I dont think anybody has every stuck a K20 engine in a rover yet. Bit too complex I expect as the engine's round the other way IIRC.

There is however a B18 powered 5dr hatchback about, and will soon be a F22 (prelude 2.2VTEC) engined rover 600. Oh, and some D16 turbos...
