Rear brake lights octy vrs mk2 10 plate

Featured Replies

Do both top and bottom portions light up or am I imagining a fault?

Had a look at other octys and it seems only top section and high section lights up.

Could have sworn bottom and top of rear cluster comes on. Have used a wire brush to clean connections and replaced bulbs but it still seems only top left comes on when braking along with high level. Seems top and bottom right hand side lights up though. Will this pass mot? Or is it an auto electrician job?

Only the top lights up - brake and tail light.

The lower section is for the fog light and tail light.

All of the red section lights up for the tail / night light function.

Thanks,

So when you brake does the red come through the right lower section /fog a fraction more then? Seems to on mine. Any ideas, unit seems to be tight and fitted correctly.

No, there should be no light leakage into the vertical red strip. Inside the cluster are dividers to seperate the brake and fog light functions. This is to focus the light into a smaller space and help with the higher light output.

Not the best video, but this cip shows the emergency braking flashing brake lights on the Octavia...

Thanks for the info.

Will need to pull the lights out again and give them a thorough check over.
